Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Welcome to FrenchTextbook ("the Service"), an interactive French language learning platform available at frenchtextbook.com. The Service is operated by Human Knowledge LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA, with its registered office at 30 N Gould St, STE R, Sheridan, WY 82801.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

2. Account Registration

To access course content, you must create an account using a supported third-party authentication provider (such as Google or Facebook) or email sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.

Each person may maintain only one account. You may not share your account credentials or allow others to access the Service through your account.

3. Course Access and License

When you purchase a course, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access the course content for one (1) year at a time, as an annual pass that renews each year (see Section 4). For purchases made through the free trial, the first year starts on the date of the trial-end charge; for direct purchases, it starts on the date of purchase.

Your pass renews automatically each year unless you turn renewal off (see Section 5), so your access continues without interruption. Your progress, exercise answers, and other data associated with the course will be preserved regardless of whether your access is active.

This license is for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not share, copy, redistribute, or make available any course content to others.

4. Purchases and Payment

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment card details on our servers.

Free trial and annual pass. The course is offered as an annual pass with a free trial. When you start the trial, you provide a payment method and authorize a charge of the price shown at checkout on the trial end date (7 days after the trial starts, unless a different length is stated at checkout). Nothing is charged when the trial starts. Your pass then renews automatically each year at the then-current pass price shown at checkout, keeping your access active. We email you the charge date when your trial starts, a reminder about three (3) days before the first charge, and a reminder before every yearly renewal, at least seven (7) days in advance. You can cancel the trial or turn off renewal at any time, in one click, from your account (see Section 5).

Failed payments. If a charge cannot be completed, our payment processor retries it automatically over the following days, and we notify you by email with a secure link to update your card or confirm the payment with your bank. For the trial-end charge, course access is paused until the payment completes. For renewal charges, your access continues while retries are in progress; if the payment ultimately cannot be completed, the renewal is canceled and your access ends at the end of the period you already paid for.

Direct purchases. Purchases made without a trial (for example, after a previously used trial) are charged immediately at the price shown at checkout and renew yearly as described above.

All prices displayed on this website are exclusive of applicable taxes. Applicable taxes may be added to the displayed price at checkout. Promotional pricing (such as a launch price) applies for the period stated on the website and may change.

5. Cancellation and Renewal

You can cancel your trial at any time before the trial end date, in one click, from the "Manage trial" page in your account menu. No contact with support is required, though you can always reach us here or by email at if you prefer.

When you cancel: your payment method is never charged and is removed from our payment processor; you keep full course access until the original trial end date; and your learning progress is preserved in your account.

Each person may use one (1) free trial. If you have already used a trial, subsequent purchases are direct purchases (see Section 4).

If you do not cancel before the trial end date, the first annual charge described in Section 4 is made on that date and is final: the free trial period is your opportunity to evaluate the course with full access before paying.

Turning off renewal. Once your pass is active, you can turn off renewal at any time, in one click, from the same page in your account. Your card is then not charged again, you keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and no partial refunds are issued for that period. You can turn renewal back on at any time before your pass ends. Renewal charges are final once made; the reminder email sent before every renewal is your opportunity to turn renewal off beforehand.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share your login credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account
  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, or publicly display any course content
  • Use automated tools to scrape, download, or extract content from the Service
  • Attempt to circumvent access controls or security measures
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Use stolen or fraudulent payment methods

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the Service, including but not limited to lessons, exercises, illustrations, audio recordings, and software, is owned by Human Knowledge LLC, except third-party materials credited on our attributions page. All rights are reserved.

You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on the Service without our prior written permission.

8. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent payment activity, or for any other reason at our discretion. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before or at the time of termination.

Upon termination, your access to course content will be revoked. If your account is terminated for reasons other than a Terms violation, we may issue a pro-rata credit at our discretion.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that all content will be free of mistakes. While we strive to provide high-quality learning materials, we make no warranties regarding the accuracy or completeness of the course content.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Human Knowledge LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Human Knowledge LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

12. Force Majeure

Human Knowledge LLC shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of government, internet or infrastructure outages, cyberattacks, pandemics, or failures of third-party service providers.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution: Before initiating any formal proceedings, you agree to contact us first and attempt to resolve any dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days. Please contact us here or by email at .

Binding Arbitration: If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, you and Human Knowledge LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration shall take place in the State of Wyoming, United States, or at another mutually agreed location. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class Action Waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Human Knowledge LLC.

Exceptions: Either party may bring a claim in small claims court if the dispute qualifies. Nothing in this section prevents Human Knowledge LLC from seeking injunctive or other equitable relief in court to protect its intellectual property rights.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

16. General Provisions

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Human Knowledge LLC regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

Waiver: The failure of Human Knowledge LLC to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by Human Knowledge LLC.

17. Communications

By creating an account, you agree that we may send you service emails, such as login links, purchase confirmations, payment reminders before your trial ends and before every yearly renewal, renewal confirmations, important account or service updates, and a one-time welcome message. These are part of using the Service and are always sent.

We may also send marketing emails, including learning reminders to help you keep going (for example, if you haven't started or finished a lesson) and messages with educational tips, product news, and offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in every such email, without affecting the service emails above. How we obtain your consent for marketing is described in our Privacy Policy.
